Learning Objectives

Students will develop balance, coordination, and teamwork skills through engaging, movement-based activities using Balance It cards and interactive games.

Materials Needed

Balance It cards or app Cones or markers for stations Timer or stopwatch Optional: Music for engagement Space for movement

Instructions

Begin with a warm-up to prepare students for movement. Divide the class into pairs or small groups and assign each to a station. At each station, students alternate between a fitness activity and a balance task from the Balance It cards or app. Set a timer (e.g., 4–5 minutes per station). After time is up, groups rotate to the next station. Continue rotations until all groups have visited each station. Optional: Play music during fitness portions to boost engagement. Conclude with a cool-down session including stretches like forward bends, quad, and shoulder stretches. Lead a group reflection discussing which balances and fitness activities were most enjoyable or challenging. Highlight the importance of balance and overall fitness for health and well-being.

Assessment

Observe students as they complete the fitness and balance tasks, offering feedback where needed. Assess their ability to apply balance techniques in a fitness context and note their engagement and cooperation during rotations. Group performance and discussion responses can indicate understanding and integration of balance concepts.

Extension Activities

Encourage students to invent their own balance challenges, attempt modified poses (e.g., eyes closed or extended hold), or combine music, stories, or added fitness elements for creative exploration.
